Johan, a Chute D'Eau Marine Director and Founder, has been involved in the marine industry for over 25 years. A Dutch- born engineer, Johan comes highly qualified to lead his company given the broad range of his working experience and expertise mix of marine engineering, marine management oversight, project development/management and marine equipment and vessel construction and repair skills.
Johan majored in marine engineering (Bachelor Degree) from the Maritiem Instituut “De Ruyter” in Holland where he was in the class of the first Maritime Officers (MAROF) educated in both discipline deck and engine room. He started his career working with some of the most prestigious companies in the marine industry such as Nedloyd, Van Ommeren, and Dock Express, as well as L.I.P.S where he served as service engineer specializing in variable pitch propellers.
One of his jobs brought him to Trinidad and Tobago where he now resides for the past sixteen years, and has been happily involved in the marine industry coordinating operations and providing oversight management for a number of marine companies.
Among these activities, Johan managed a small boat manufacturing and repair facility which carried the dealer ship of Mercury and Mercruizer engines. He was also responsible for the design, construction and management of a boatyard for mega yachts up to 130ft with a 200 metric ton travel lift over a five-year period.
One of his major achievements during an eight-year tenure with a marine consulting company was serving in the position of COO for the development of proposals and the execution of the complete overhaul and maintenance contract of two 150ft crew boats into Coast guard patrol boats.
Given Johan's engineering background coupled with his wide marine experience mix, his joy for project management and the enthusiasm he creates in his team for effective and efficient job follow-up and completion, Chute D'Eau Marine is already gaining much recognition and respect among different companies in Trinidad and Tobago and overseas as the company “to get the job done in time, and on budget”.
